Alba

The Alba is the long slouchy tote, 56 cm tall, the bag for the day that needs a book, a jumper and the shopping all at once, closed with a magnetic stud. The Veluna is the smaller relative: the same pebbled black, the same soft drape, but a zip across the top and a body that sits at the hip rather than the thigh. The Alba does the full day and the market; the Veluna does the evening and the short outing where a zip matters. Two pebbled blacks, so the pair reads as one leather in two lengths. Wednesday night the Alba is emptied on the sofa and the Veluna takes the essentials to dinner.

The Alba carries a day's worth of things loosely, on the shoulder, in a body tall enough to hold a folder or a rolled scarf. The Alessa carries the short list in a compact body that zips shut and stays out of the way. One is the bag for the weekend market and the long day out; the other for the restaurant, the errand, the evening when the Alba would be swinging at the knee. Both in black pebbled leather, so the two feel like one decision made twice at different scales. Sunday you take the Alessa to lunch and leave the Alba, with the shopping still in it, in the hall.
