Versa Large

The caramel Versa Large is the working bag with warmth in it, a woven tote that turns into a backpack and takes the laptop through the week. What it does not do is the evening. The Veluna does: a soft black hobo with a single strap, one zipped compartment and no structure to hold it upright. The two share nothing but the wardrobe, which is the point; caramel against the daylight, black against the night, both in leather that will mark and mellow. Thursday at seven, the caramel tote stays under the coat rack and the Veluna leaves with the phone, the lipstick and the keys.

The caramel Versa Large holds a whole working day and converts to a backpack for the walk. The Alessa holds a phone, a wallet and keys, and it stays on the shoulder through a market, a lunch or a train. They are not carried at once. One is for the hours with a laptop in them, the other for every hour without, and a black Alessa beside a caramel tote reads as two considered choices rather than a matched set. Sunday lunch, the Alessa over the coat; the caramel tote back on the hook until Monday morning.
